In the classical parlors and salons of the 20th century, a select group of interesting people would gather at the behest of a charismatic host to view art, exchange innovative ideas, and to bask in the comfort of a shared sense of what makes the world tick. Ashley Javier is our modern saloniste, and in his Parlor - an extravagant penthouse space that spills out onto a garden exploding with life, all floating secretly above New York’s lower Fifth Avenue.

Though it was designed primarily as a private hairstyling atelier–the kind of place a just- being-buzzed-about actress or young Manhattan social might pop by before a party for a glass of champagne and an updo, or perhaps on the weekend for a quick trim and a game of backgammon—you will feel the luxuriant sense of being part of something a littler bigger than your hair.

The Parlor reaches back in time -  borrowing old-world notions of civility, decadence and pleasure - while also  reaching forward to the next big things.
Javier has created a living collage of old friends and new. There is the charm of the familiar, the glamour of the just-discovered,  an aura of calm alongside  the beating pulse of the brand-new.

The latest fashion (and the people behind it), the newest music, most under-the-radar night spots, and models so green they’ve just come from their firstcastings.

You’ll find it  all at the Parlor.
